Cottages

Both of our cottages have been recently renovated and have been thoughtfully furnished to create a relaxed home from home.

We are barely an hour’s drive from the Calais ferry port, yet well-immersed in traditional French countryside. Aix-en-Issart is centrally located for a huge variety of activities - see our Things to Do page.

Bedding (pillows & duvets) is included but you will need to bring your own linen (bed sheets, duvet covers and towels) with you. Or you can hire them from us - see our Rates page.

We have a separate laundry room with a washing machine.

Both cottages are heated and hot water is supplied by electricity. The cost of this is included for summer rentals but we charge an additional heating supplement from October to April (30 euros for La Bobine, 40 euros for L'Aiguille). The cooker runs on bottled gas and the cost is included in the rental fee.

The two cottages interconnect and can be rented together for large groups (sleeping 12 people with six bedrooms and three bathrooms).

In addition to the normal sleeping arrangements, both cottages have a sofa which unfolds into a double bed. We supply bedding for this but suggest that it is best used for occasional guests. We can accommmodate a large group (up to 16) for a short break.

The cottages share the garden with our home. The garden covers about half an acre with lots of trees, and has swings for younger visitors and lots of space for games. There is also ample parking.

We provide British Sky television with DVD players. (La Bobine also has a video player).

We have a no smoking rule inside and, sorry, no pets.

La Bobine

For up to 4 people.

You can enter the cottage from either the village main street or from the courtyard. Once inside, there’s a comfortable sitting and dining room with beamed ceiling and tiled floor.

The kitchen, which leads off the sitting room, is fully equipped with a gas cooker, fridge, freezer and other necessities. If you like to cook, you will be pleased to know that it is well-supplied with all the essentials.

The shower room and separate toilet are also on the ground floor.

A mahogany staircase leads upstairs. A double bedroom provides plenty of space for a cot if required. The other bedroom has two single beds. Both rooms have plenty of hanging and storage space.

L'Aiguille

For up to 8 people.

You enter the cottage from the courtyard. Once inside, there’s a comfortable sitting and dining room with beamed ceiling and tiled floor.

The kitchen, which leads off the sitting room, is fully equipped with a gas cooker, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, microwave and other necessities. If you like to cook, you will be pleased to know that it is well-supplied with all the essentials.

There is a double bedroom and bathroom on the ground floor. The bathroom has a walk-in shower. This is ideal for people who find stairs difficult.

A staircase leads upstairs. A double bedroom provides plenty of space for a cot if required

The other two bedrooms have two single beds. All have plenty of hanging and storage space. There is second bathroom on the first floor.
